Planet conjunction

Hi all,
Jim sent me an email to check on me. I’ve been doing well, I just haven’t had any photo work lately. I guess Covid has everything all jacked up. So, I’ve been using my iPhone 12 Pro Max and Apple ProRAW for almost everything lately. I love what the new iPhone can do now. The photo attached was taken with the iPhone using night mode & ProRAW. I noticed there isn’t a mobile photography section here, so hopefully you all won’t mind an iPhone photo. This was 10” handheld. Processed with Lightroom mobile.

sorry I’ve been away for so long, just not much to capture here in Beaumont. Plus my day job really gets in the way. I’ve been posting mostly on Instagram. Well let me know how this looks. The two planets are at the top of the star on the right.

First off, it's great to see you back. Second, feel free to post Iphone images here, this one is really good work regardless of what camera was used.

I like your placement of the moon over the point of the star. As for your choice of camera - I bought an iPhone 11Pro as a camera that just happens to be able to take a phone call too. It's the camera that is always in my pocket.

Thanks:
I had the 11 pro max and then upgraded to the 12 pro max after seeing the 47% sensor size increase and f/1.6 optics. So far I’m very impressed and now that Apple ProRAW is available for the 12 pro series, I can do so much with three cameras in my pocket.

It's photos like this one that make me really happy you are back Todd!

We don't make distinctions on what kind of camera you are using, iphone or pinhole camera, they all fit in here. It's the photography we appreciate not necessarily what was used.

Awesome positioning with the conjunction here, it's amazing you were able to capture this. I had just gotten the 11 Pro last year, but now you have me thinking that I need to upgrade to the 12 Pro. The max is too big for my pockets, but if the 12 Pro has the larger sensor too, I will have to think about it.

Did you say 10s handheld? That’s just incredible. Or did I misread 10”. In any case a very nice image.

Thanks Jim, I have both the 12 pro and 12 pro max, I have four lines on my account so I updated three lines since AT&T had the bill credits promotion. The 12 pro does not have the larger sensor like the 12 pro max does. The pro max also has sensor shift stabilization IBIS on its main camera. It’s really amazing.

The 12 pro is really good also, it has the same sensor that the 11 pro max has but with much better optics and software. Night mode is fantastic on both. ProRAW works with night mode and the difference is really good compared to the night mode jpeg files. If the 12 pro max is too big for the pockets, get a belt holster pouch and keep it there. The camera difference is worth it. The 12 Pro is also good at all photography with the use of Apple ProRAW, Apple blends deep fusion and RAW together and its stunning. If you haven’t seen the keynote on apple’s website for the iPhone 12 Pro Max, check it out. Here is a star trail sample between the two iPhones. You can see more stars on the pro max iPhone compared to the pro. Both really good, but the max pulls in 87% more light with its larger sensor and larger pixels combined with much higher iso. The photos got out of order, so I’ll label them. The other two are more iPhone 12 Pro Max sunset shots

The Nightcap app was used for the star trails which was a 10 minute exposure on both iPhones .

Very cool shots - wpould not have pegged them for phone images unless you told us. Great quality, but as always it is the photographer who has to visualize the scene and be there to take it that make images special like these are. Great job!
