This is the Prairie Falcon that was hanging around work yesterday. We found he was guarding his pigeon, which we later found had been poisoned. We found three other poisoned pigeons so ended up reporting it to our property management. I took over 100 shots of this guy, as he was there most of the day. Once I found out the pigeon was poisoned with the corn, I went & disposed of it....hopefully it will not hurt this gorgeous bird.

Beautiful bird - why is someone trying to poison them? Or are they trying to poison the pigeons?
I believe trying to poison the pigeons. I don't think it is our complex, but we have a lot of apartments across the street & a lot of medical buildings. And a lot of pigeons. But people don't take into account feral cats eat them, raptors eat them, dogs eat them. It is not just the pigeons it affects.

Beautiful series and magnificent little bird. Don't these poisoners know that the hawks will thin the pigeons if they'll leave it to nature?!

What a wonderful lovely bird, posing so beautifully for you on that angled branch! She/He looks so good in the swooping down shots. I join others in hoping that no harm was done by the poison - other than to the pigeon, of course!
