Thank you Douglas, I didn’t know the proper name was Claret Cup blooms. My wife is always coaching (read that scolding) me about using proper names for plants and animals

Nice cacti bloom shots.

One simple trick if you have an iPhone - just take a picture of the bloom and then go into the gallery for that shot. Press the button at the bottom with an italic "i" in to and it will give you info about the shot with an option to look up the plant for you. Its pretty accurate most of the time.
