Red Crossbill

Kind of an unusual sighting (I think). Maybe I wouldn't have even noticed except for the pictures when I got back home. High up with some Ponderosa Pines in the La Sal Mountains.

You made me look this guy up - that is certainly an unusual beak. Nice find and capture.

Crossbills are indeed rare, but very colorful birds, great catch here.
