I took these yesterday with my 300mm. The first photo is a different bird than the last 3, but same species I believe. We have a lot of them around, they seem to enjoy hunting in the big open fields. This was my first time getting this close though.

Wow Amy! These are so cool! My favorites are #1 and 4. I love the way it's being lit up with it's wings spread in #1, and then to catch it's take off in #4 is really awesome.

Thanks, all! Yes, #1 turned out good with the sun shining through it's wings and tail - you can actually see the reddish tinge of it's tail feathers which give this bird its name.
