Roan Mountain 2019

My Landscape Photography took a back burner most of this year, I have been focusing on my commercial work...but a couple weeks ago a group of friends including my dad and I went to Roan Mountain for a few days free of the distractions of life...sadly the Rhododendron bloom that we were there for was mostly hammered by high winds and rain in the days leading up to our trip. I still managed an image or two, but nothing extraordinary...will have to go back and try again next year...hoping for blooms.

Jim let me know today that my dad signed up here today...so hopefully he will jump in and post some images...

Very nice Travis - the soft misty light with the ferns on the forest floor in the first image really grab my attention. I like the highlights of the new growth on the young trees and the rhododendron bloom lurking in the mist in the second one.

Hope you can find the time to get out and shoot more landscapes - I like seeing your work.

These are really great Travis. Too bad about the wind knocking down the flowers, but you still came away with some great photos.

I sure like the misty feel of the first two photos. I think #1 might be my favorite of the two.

BTW, no forum misses you as much as we miss you!

I know you get very busy, so that would be awesome if your Dad does post here and helps hold down the fort while you are off making money... :)

Thanks Alan, the day we had the foggy conditions was my favorite day and the most productive too. That particular forest doesn't feel like the Southeast, it feels more like the PNW...and its a real treat. I have a few outings planned for the rest of the year...hoping to be out shooting.

Beautiful set really like that first one
Thanks Ben, that first one is my favorite from the trip.

Nice images Travis, thanks for sharing them here!
Thanks Kyle.

Jim, it was a shame that the weather spoiled the trip a bit this year...last year was a growth year, so blooms were there but not a lot...but it was better than none! I did my best to make the most of it...there were a few comps I wish I had followed through with rather than what I ended up shooting, lesson learned I guess. I hope dad chimes in and is able to learn as much from this place as possible, its such a good resource.

these are all great! love the lighting!
Thank you very much, I don't get to work in the fog much, I love it, but just don't see it very often.

Welcome back, Travis. These are really nice moody images.
Thank you Douglas, glad you like them.

Stunning artistry. The mood is spectacular.
Thanks Johnny, a foggy forest sure is a nice place to be.
