Salvage Saturday

Might not have made the cut but its still a nice image of this scene.

My salvage job is from a hike on one of the trails in Ecola State Park near Cannon Beach. The Tillamook lighthouse is off in the distance. For a sense of scale the lighthouse is about a mile and a half offshore. The image had various issues that left it on the shelf but nothing that couldn't be fixed with our current image processing tools.

Wow! I have been busy this morning and I am surprised there are only two posts so far. I am doing Monument Valley like Ben. I have had this image for a while, and I just looked at it and decided that it needed a crop along with some post processing.

Here is the original.

Nice work with both the crop and the light in this one Doug. My first thought when I saw the original was wondering why you would crop it but once I saw your rework it made sense.

Here is about rework #6 of this image from Burney Falls. It is a contrasty scene so I tried a linear profile to help tame it and bring some color back into the sky. It is also a little hazy so I used Topaz Sharpen AI along with a midtone curve layer to add some punch to the ground. Any thoughts are welcome.
I like how you processed this - a completely natural looking result.

Sometimes it amazes me how much work we have to put into processing to make it look like what we saw when we framed the shot.

Time to jump in with those reworked images

I was planning this as one of my favorites but I don’t think it cuts it. So here it sits on the salvage line

the mid ground is a bit dull but that’s how it was so I left it

This is really nice Ben. Good job on the recovery. I wish I could contribute but I am back on the road.

This is the best image of Birney Falls I have ever seen, Kyle. Nice job.
