Sedona Fall

I have been playing around with some old images because we had a relatively bad fall this season. No really good color. Here is one from a couple of years ago that has the classic pink of the Big Tooth Maples in Oak Creek Canyon.

The pink really stands out as a fall color. Looks like it comes on a bit earlier than the adjacent deciduous vegetation.

The first time I saw it I thought the color was past. But no!! This is prime. Some of the trees are bright red but this is more common.

Thanks, Jeffrey. I think the lack of rainfall after the monsoons caused this. A lot of the leaves just went to brown, especially the cottonwoods. The weather is always nice but the color varies from year to year.
