As can be seen on the map provided it is possible to access Red Rock Loop Road along 89A which is the main route through West Sedona. The eastern portion of the loop can be accessed at the junction of 89A and the high school. The western section can be accessed from 89A at the junction to Red Rock State Park.
CRESCENT MOON RANCH STATE PARK (RRP)
More images have been taken of this area than in all of the rest of Sedona. Crescent Moon Ranch State Park is home to Red Rock Crossing and Cathedral Rock, which is the icon of Sedona. There are numerous places to take images along Oak Creek and at Red Rock Crossing. The greatest problems you will have will be fighting the hoards of people (including other photographers) getting in your way during busy times of the year. BTW, most good photography is done in the afternoon because the sun is in your face in the morning.
These first images were taken at the Ranch.

The image below was taken from above the Ranch. To access this area, after you turn onto the road to the Red Rock Crossing, go straight up the gravel road when you come to the first turn. Go up the hill until you see a road to the left. At that juncture go ahead just a bit and you will see parking on the right and left of the road. Find the pathway on the right and head down to the little plateau. This area is best after recent rains when the water pools in the depressions. It is best in the evening.

The next two images were taken along Oak Creek within the park. There are quite a few locations here but during the prime hours they get choked with other photographers. Scout out what you want to shoot and get there early.

RED ROCK LOOP ROAD
From the eastern most end of the road near the high school head downhill. When you come to the first pullout there ae a number of good opportunities there. To get away from the people go down the slope a bit and there are some nice foregrounds available. It is difficult to shoot through the juniper tree because there will be people all over the place. It is much easier to get that image in the winter when fewer people are around.

This image below was also taken along the road.

There is a hill next to the High School named Scheurman Mountain that has a trail to the top. You can stop when you get high enough to shoot images of the landscapes of West Sedona. The image below was taken from there.
