Sedona in Winter

Thanks again for the psych to visit your beautiful home area. These are my favorites in the series, the contrast of rock, snow, and sky is very patriotic! I just wish our president and some of his decision makers could get out for a few days emerged in such an environment to get a true feel for the land they manage.
Thanks, Jim. Let me know when you are out here.

This is the last of a series showing the four season of Sedona, AZ. Unfortunately, it doesn't snow very often here but when it does it can be spectacular. You should be aware that the snow doesn't last very long unless there is a lot of it. It is often gone before mid-afternoon.

This is a scene from a pull out on Red Rock Loop Road just past the High School.

This is a view from a pull out along Route 179 at Bell Rock and the Courthouse. This was a significant snowfall.

This is a view of Mitten Ridge from Schnebly Hill Road. It is hard to take this image now because the forest service will close the road when it snows. This road is also in horrible shape making it difficult to get to this overlook without four wheel drive.

This is from Fay Canyon. Notice that the snow is melting fast enough to create a waterfall just to the right and below the major butte in this image.

This is a view from Yavapai Vista Trail just off of route 179.

Last, but not least, this is one of the many ways to shoot Cathedral Rock. This view is along Oak Creek at Crescent Moon Recreational Area (Red Rock Crossing) late in the day.

Well this challenges my bragging I have the best shot of “the crossing” ! Nice work on all shots. Just wish we could still travel back there Doug.

Very nice series, Doug. As Jameel & Kyle said, it's hard to go wrong with red rocks & snow.
