Shepperd's Dell

A nicely composed scene Alan with pleasing/natural shades of greens. Looks like a small part of a waterfall on the lower right that, now that I spot it, wished more of it was in the frame. I saw some images of the raging fire in this area and I'd imagine it must be especially tough seeing that for those who visit this area often.

This spot is about 45 minutes from my house so as you might guess I have more than a couple of images of the dell. The subject of this image was entirely the moss covered stone guardrail and the ferns. I promise another thread devoted to the waterfalls of Shepperd's Dell. There are many ways to view this place.

Hey Alan,

I sure like this too. That bridge just puts the scene over the top.

How is the fire doing up there? Is it out? Hopefully.

Such a lovely scene. That Stone wall probably has so many stories to tell. You have presented it very well here, Thanks for sharing this.

Most of the fire is out after we got a couple of inches of rain up the Gorge. The Historic Highway that leads to most of the falls in the Gorge won't be open until at least spring because of the danger of falling trees and rock/landslides.

The stone walls line several miles of the Historic highway and the footpath leading down into the Dell like this spot.

Wonderful scene Alan. Such a contrast to the desert I live in. Magical.
I grew up in Phoenix so the vegetation of the northwest has always been a primary subject for me and I am still amazed at the contrasts as well.
