Slow panning waves

Assynt in NW Scotland also has beaches and the water, like the entire West Coast and islands has a green/ blue tone. I spent an enjoyable, but cold, hour trying to capture waves with movement and texture. This is 1/8s with a 200mm lens panning incoming waves, the strong offshore wind was ripping the tops off and keeping the front element of my lens dry. Ken

Nice results. Your scene has the key to making wave panning work - a dark backdrop. I have tried doing this a few times but the smeared land in the background was too distracting.

This is a fun technique Ken. Not easy to pull off as it can vary so much from wave to wave. I like this one you got.

Thanks everyone for your comments, info that may change your view of the image. The waves were only 3 ft (1m) high and this allowed to stand in the wash to get a better background only risking a mild wetting although my Wellington boots kept me dry. It is seldom this calm in Autumn/Winter approx latitude Bering Sea. Ken
