Snow in May

Usually one doesn't associate the month of May with snow, but in Colorado last year the snow just seemed like it would never ever stop. This is just off the I-70, East of the Eisenhower Tunnel. The scenery was looking so cool with the snow falling, finally at one spot an Exit and a Frontage road presented itself along with a small pond. So I got off, went down the frontage road a bit and shot this. It was a bit hard trying to shield the camera lens as the snow was being driven by a pretty good wind. But I think I succeeded.

Both of the shots were processed totally the same except for #2 which as a DeHaze adjust of 30 in ACR. #1 is pretty straight out of the camera. So I am curious which one everyone prefers. I kind of like the limited visibility of the original, but then I know we can sure love some contrast which the DeHaze brought on.

All comments are welcome,

Jim

I like the added shadow detail in the second image. The first one better depicts the limited visibility of the moment but the second one makes a more viewable image.

Thanks Alan! For some reason this was one of those moments where it felt like pushing the photo that much seemed odd, but I guess that’s why I did it because it did feel more pleasing visually.

My first thought was # 1, but after several returns, I guess I'm with # 2 as well. I really like the scene.
