Really amazing work! I have tried that before and never got anything even near this good.

Nice details in the ice crystals. Amazing array of shapes the ice can take.
thanks alan. the patterns are pretty interesting.

thanks jim. i've tried 3 times this year with different gear and it's the first time i got something to come out. i almost missed out this time because the weather changed and i started getting clumpy pieces of ice instead of flakes. the magic gear combo ended up being 52mm in macro tubes and a sharp macro lens. i also used a tripod and a cheap ring light. i played with a lumecube mini light panel for some side lighting, which i think would have worked great if i'd found snow flakes instead of slush.

Good work, I have been practicing close ups this is a good subject if we get some more snow.
thanks ben. hopefully you'll have better luck than i had. our snow was clumpy and didn't have many flakes in it this year. we had beautiful flakes in my first attempt, but the gear i was trying to use then wasn't cutting it.

Nice details and a variety of shapes. The OOF background adds to it as well.
thanks jameel.
