My wife and I went X-skiing up at our favorite local spot today on this last day of fall and found good snow.

Looks quite nice - I am guessing you didn't have to look hard for good snow with the amount of precipitation we have had lately. I like the view in the second image alongside the creek.

If the current outlooks are correct you might be able to use those x-country skis in your neighborhood by this time next week.

Thanks for the comments guys. These two mountains hold special significance for me - I've soloed the north face of Big Four twice BITD, each time pushing my limit in a different way. I've tried Hall Pk. twice in the spring and summer more recently. While it is technically easier, route finding and conditions can be tricky and I've turned around when it got too tricky.

Alan, yes, I'm looking forward to more low snow, not likely enough to ski from our door, but we can always hope (it has happened a couple of times).
