Snowy Owl Portraits

I found this super tolerant Young male Snowy . It was almost like he was posing for me! Days like these will be hard to top, it's such a thrill just to see one much less have one to yourself like this. These are pretty heavily cropped. But like always all C&C welcomed!

Great set, I prefer the color shots, the last is very strong also with fantastic detail in the feathers, but I'm not a fan of color accents in black & white, esp. with nature shots like this - I'd like to see it in pure B&W.

It's funny, the first one looks like the owl is part cyclops with 1 eye!

An awesome set indeed. I like the going to B&W except for the eyes, that's something I have never seen with wildlife before only in people portraits, but it looks really cool and the eye then really catches the viewers attention.

Thank you so very much. I used a Canon 80D, Canon 100-400II with the 1.4 III extender on it. So the focal length is 560 and 896 if you factor the crop sensor in. settings are F8, 1/640 SS and 100 ISO .

I really like these, sharp focus and you were able to fill the frame well. Those eyes are incredible. I never knew until my daughter did a report for class, the owl eyes don't move around, that's why the head moves so much.. Kind of creepy..

Damn, I didn't know that! Thank's for that , like you said that's creepy but cool at the same time. here is another little tid bit. From what I understand. yellow(gold) eyes means they are a day hunter, Orange eyes means they hunt dusk and dawn and Brown or dark they hunt at night.
