Sopris Sunrise

I blasted out to Carbondale, CO in hopes that the fall colors wouldn't have faded. While some trees have dropped their leaves, there were still others with green. The gamble oaks were in fine form. After driving up and down this road, hiking up & down to ridge lines in a couple of spots, I decided (wouldn't you know it) that the best place was roadside........ I'd heard of another spot farther from Sopris so that one can get much more of a fall foliage carpet leading up to the mountain. Maybe next year.

I had high hopes that the clouds would really light up, but what I got instead was a background pink, with the clouds barely touched.
I also had some sunset shots, which I'll probably post later.

I like your background pinks in this case as a nice offset to the darker low clouds. Nice lighting to bring out the remaining yellows in the aspen.

Thanks, guys. the sky to the right of the frame was an unreal blue -- would have been thought to be oversaturated in post processing. And Carbondale's only about 6,000'.

Mt Sopris is one of my favorite mountains as I really like it's shape. Very nice work with this Monika, though I think I would pull a bit of that magenta cast from the ground layer.

Thanks for the suggestion, Jim. It raises an interesting question. Had I added magenta or pushed the saturation, I would immediately think, "Oh, I pushed it too far, I need to back it off". But in this case, that's what the light was doing. I'd like to see what others think. As a parallel situation, a shot in an an aspen grove where the yellow leaves made for a golden glow on everything, would you reduce the yellow cast there, too?
