Storm Clearing A Bit

Hi all.

Yosemite National Park is not the "meca" foliage destination for the west coast, the vegetation, trees don't turn to the vibrant canvas like east coast; other than the lone sugar maple tree near the valley chapel, most elms trees are beautiful though. On some occasions when the sunlight hit the right angle, we get faint red hues in the valley.

Last week the snow was on and off, as I was driving, I would see rain on one side & snow on the other side, quite an interesting experience; luckily, not many tourist this time of the year, I was able to stop often & taking photos along the Merced river; the roads were very wet, I got a few nice reflections.

I was pretty much down on the river bed to get this shot, the clouds opened for 2 minuets.

Enjoy.

Oliver

Looks like a nice place to shoot fall golds. I am more used to the yellows and gold so I like what you have here - especially the scene in the first image - nice atmospherics, mountains, leaf colors, and reflections. Hard to go wrong with a combination like that.

Hey Oliver! Some great shots, and good thinking on making use of the wet roads to reflect the color also.

Both of these are awesome. #1 is a super cool clearing storm image with the spotlights of light poking through. And #2 is an awesome one as well.

You are correct, Yosemite for all of it's natural grandeur does lack in the fall color department. I purposely chose not to go to Yosemite for it's fall colors for years because they are so weak there. But then I took it as a challenge to go there and make the most of what fall color there is. It was a fun challenge. :)

I would say you took what I would call a C- location for fall colors, and got A+ fall colors from it. 👍

Two great images, The second is an unusual scene for the road reflections, but the first is the one I would hang on my wall.

Thanks Alan, the allure of Yosemite lies in the changing fog & clouds, the granite can change color at snap of finger with inclement weather.

Hi Jim, you are absolutely right, I was all about giving up when the sun peered through the clouds for a brief 2 minutes; the young lady was walking on the South Side Drive all by herself in the rain, with camera in hand, she was taking photos as she walked by.

Ben, thanks, it was more like wet snow on the road, I took shots of both direction.
