Strut Your Stuff

Thanks to @Brian for telling me about Barr Lake in Colorado not too far from Denver. So off I went with my Daughter and 5 grandkids ranging from 18 months to 9 years old. Fortunately, the kids are pretty well trained in hiking, camping and used to my photography. But still I was conscious and tried not to spend too much time in any one place so that we could keep exploring the frozen lake, broken sticks, etc as we went.

Brian and Mike Lewis and I had gotten together for lunch last week, and Brian showed some photos of Bald Eagles which he also posted here from Barr Lake. So off I went in search of adventure with 5 grandkids! :)

The first thing we encountered was a lot of geese, and it was really cool how they were on the frozen lake. So I will start with some geese, and I didn't get any Bald Eagle shots as cool as Brian's, but I did get some Bald Eagle shots and I will share those later.

In this first one, we have a Canada Goose to strutting it's stuff to start off. And this was shot on a Nikon D850 and the Tamron 150-600mm G2.

All comments are welcome,

Jim

That one strutting absolutely makes this shot. Well done. Glad you made it out there.

I always thought these guys flew away from places with serious ice. Interesting to see them wandering around the pond instead of swimming in it.

Yeah, I had no real clue either and was really surprised by how many geese were out on the ice. And the seemingly sat there or stood there for hours. I know I would have been frozen.

You can tell how well insulated these guys are because they sit directly on the ice.
