Sunrise Splendor

A few miles south of Bisti in New Mexico is another really cool area of even stranger rock formations. This was taken recently on my way back from fall colors in Colorado. There wasn't any real clouds for sunrise, but there was some moisture in the air, and some really neat Crepuscular Rays that turned to mush just as the sun was rising, but that mush turned into a nice golden glow that lasted only a few minutes.

I like how the lighter colored sky shapes around the rock formations, as if the rocks are producing the light.

Jim, that's REALLY good !

Some of the best light I've seen on a beautifully selected landscape, with perfect, compatible colors.

This is a real winner.

Nice soft light on the hoodoos and a very subtle sky gradient.

Those are some awesome shapes!
Thanks you guys. The light and color didn't last long, but it was great while it lasted. About 4 hours later the clouds on the horizon finally took some shape and moved over head which opened up even more possibilities with B&W.

These formations really look great, and still a little eerie, in the early morning light. I need to make my way over here one day.

Interesting landscape. Way to grab the opportunity to capture the winderful light. I like the way it is processed.
