Sunset in The Black Canyon

Nice job with some seriously challenging light. The sun stars add a nice touch to the scene.

Hey Alisa, you and me both I think will be making more trips back to the Black Canyon now that we know such cool vista's exist there.
I like what you came up with here. I think I would do a slight more shadow recovery on the canyon area which will reveal a few more details in the rocks. It's dark enough now that the eye has too much trouble seeing and being interested then in the detail.

Thanks Jim, I will look at it. I think I did go too bright in the shadows because then I start to lose quality of the photo. I also felt like becuse the sun is behind the canyon that it was just the right amount of light becsuse in this view I fetl like the focus is on the sunset and the light that is lighting up the brush in the foreground. I will post an update when I can.

Very nice. Like Alan said the sunbeams make it. The dark canyon walls work for me, since this is more about the sunset. I often shoot thinking about inclusion in a slide show - this would make a great one for zooming and fading into the sun.

I really like how you didn't purposely use a sun star to over power the image. How you shot it is perfect. The light on the walls of the canyons adds magic to this image, imo. Well done!
