Sweet Air

I took a detour on my way to Florence in November and drove up to the trailhead for the waterfalls along Sweet Creek, I sent my drone up from the parking area to see what things looked like from above as I had never seen it from above. Turns out there isn't a lot to see from above with a tree canopy that is close to completely obscuring any views of the creek or the waterfalls. From directly overhead you can see that there is a creek below but that's pretty much the extent of it. I used the telephoto lens to get a shot of the creek from almost directly overhead which was about the only way to see it at all.

I like that view even if the creek is hidden a bit. You should have gone higher, and worked some patterns with the tree tops like I did with the fall colors in Minnesota. I think you could get some cool abstracts looking down. You would have more shades of green, but I think it would be really cool for you to try. Well, unless you did and I missed those photos? :)

Thanks Jim - I have shot quite a few images looking straight down in the coastal forests and to be honest they all look the same. Maybe in other years with the big leaf maples showing some colors would work but this year it was all fir trees. I get more interesting straight down shots in other places but not so much in the coastal forest. I do have more aerial shots of this small canyon but you can't really tell there is a creek down below the forest at all. I will post some more from both ends of the waterfall trail later. I should point that you can't fly anywhere in this kind of forest without going beyond visual line of sight.
