Taronga Zoo

These are some of my favorites from my trip to the Taronga Zoo in Sydney. As an experiment, I used my Canon M6 camera with the 100-400L lens for these (I didn't want to carry my full size SLR all day and after the zoo I put the big lens back into my day pack).

Although we went to some likely locations, I didn't find any of Australia's exotic wildlife outside of the zoo. With one exception: on my last day I found an Echidna sleeping next to the trail while I was hiking to a spot for sunrise. I didn't want to stop and disturb it, so my best echidna shot is this one from the zoo. Any thoughts are welcome.

The echidna is one strange looking mammal. This is a very nice shot of it. Your sleeping koala shot is a great example of why people think they look cuddly.

I like the view of Sydney - an interesting looking city I have never been anywhere even close to....

These are cool Kyle. How was the zoo? Was it set up animal friendly like a San Diego Zoo?
The zoo was nice. You take a cable ride to the top of the hill and work your way down. Australian zoos are different than ours in that, especially with the native animals, you can often walk among the wildlife. Kangaroos, wallabies, and birds in particular. They are sensitive to the habitats of the animals and seem to be constantly updating them.
