Tatahotso Point Milky Way

Fun scene - I like the combination of elements you managed to include in the image. Nice to have enough moon to illuminate the ground but still enough dark to capture the MW above. Nice work.

I like it a lot. Great location for Milky Way shooting. There are a couple of things I'd like at if it was mine:
1) I'd look at cropping some off the right to center the bend a little more
2) I might brighten the ground layer a little bit - I find I want to see it a little better
3) I'd also look at cooling the ground a touch so it blends a little more with the sky

Those are just personal preferences, though, so take what you will. Nice work!

Hey Bob,

Kyle made some good suggestions. But overall I like what you did here. And I like that you went back at a time when you could use the moon to help illuminate the ground. Too many people think that a new moon is the best time to shoot the Milky Way or stars, and for years I have learned a slight moon light will so help light up the ground without having to use any tricks.

Jim,
Thanks for your comments. Kyle suggestion was helpful. I did crop it a bit off center on purpose because I really don't like centering things. I like his suggestion about brightening up the layer a bit . Cooling off the ground also helped, however the moon did do that to the ground which surprised me a bit. I agree with the use of the moon that way. I have done that in the past and it works well.

Very cool shot. It seems like a lot of people over do their processing and it just looks fake. This picture looks very natural.

Great capture.
