Tenaya Ice

This was taken just before New Year's a few winters ago, in a year where Tioga Pass stayed open into January. This gave me the chance to shoot a winter sunset at Tenaya Lake, which is one of my favorite places. There were many pools of water on the ice, so I walked around until I find a composition that reflected each of the lit peaks.

Any thoughts are welcome.

Wow, I remember when Tioga Pass was a 2 lane narrow road perched on the side of a cliff and open about 4 months of teh year. This is indeed a great winter image.

Hey Ben, it still is that same road, I don't recall any real changes to the road in the last 40 years. Some years it's open longer then others, it just depends on the snow fall.

This is really cool Kyle. Normally one is not getting into that area with snow/ice like that unless they are XCountry Skiing. Those reflections are neat, and I think I better keep my eyes open for similar conditions in the coming years as this is a great shot to have in ones portfolio.

Great job of handling the dynamic range of this image, Kyle and conveying the cold of winter.
