Textures, colors, terrain....

A couple shots made in Petrified Forest National Park, on my trip home in Dec.
The range of colors and erosion patterns there are fascinating to see and experience.
Not to mention some really hard wood!

The sky was mostly overcast, though fairly bright, so I've have better light, but also worse!

I think i was 8 when I was last there, so I don't remember it well, but this is a great way to see a little shown park.

I was about to say it had been a long time since I last visited the place but my visit in the early 1970's is far more recent than Ben's visit. I am a bit surprised the place hasn't been picked clean by now.

Alan, the Park Rangers are very much on letting people know it's illegal to take any petrified rocks not only in writing but in verbal warnings. There is also usually a pretty good Park Ranger presence.

Both you and Ben need to get back down there. I shoot there at least once a year. It's one of my go to sunset locations as I am driving across from California to New Mexico.
