The Bald Eagles of Woods Lake

Just finished putting this together from some video I shot Sunday night at Woods Lake in Colorado.

I apologize in advance that the quality isn't the greatest. With those bright white heads, when I photograph I typically underexpose a bunch to make sure the whites don't blow out. But with the video, there is less latitude for processing and recovering shadows and highlights. So in a few cases, the whites are blown. This is really my first try at doing this, so hopefully the result is still enjoyable. :)

All comments are welcome,

Jim

Wow, that's quite a collection of eagles. They are really fun to watch, and I love their song. Fun fact, juveniles have a wider wing span than adults. This is due to added feathers on the wing tips to help them fly.

Thanks Ben! That's an interesting fact about the wingspan. I had no idea.

I could hear them a little, also the geese were pretty loud from time to time, but it was pretty windy, so the combination of the wind noise and the cars driving 4 feet behind me every minute or so made the audio unusable. I could have dubbed in some bird sounds, but lacked the time to find ones that would have sounded authentic to the lake, so it was just some classical music for the background.

really cool video of these amazing birds. I would love to see them in person like that one day.
Thanks so much Joe!

You have captured so many amazing birds, I was surprised that some how Bald Eagles hadn't crossed your path yet. You definitely need to find some, they are just so cool.
