The Bison Nebula

This is actually the Soul Nebula, SH2-199, but in processing this version the other day in a version of the Hubble palette, the end result for some reason looked like a Bison or Buffalo to me as opposed to the Soul Nebula. The tail is on the left side, the head is on the right. It reminds me of the old Buffalo Nickle from way back in the day in the USA.

This was captured in Joshua Tree National Park last week.

It's interesting how just having a different color palette changed what we see. I have done a couple of the Soul Nebula already, and never thought they looked like a Bison. But this one immediately struck me as one.

That all looks very good - processing is excellent on this one, with nice colors, lots of detail, and noise well controlled.
