The Cave Nebula and the Monkey Head nebula

Hello,
I'm Chuck and a I'm new member to this group. I took my first astro photo in 1976 but I didn't get back into astro photography until 2004. I live in a very light polluted city and have neighbors that put their bright patio lights on every night so I do mostly narrowband imaging. Here is a shot of the Monkey Head Nebula and the Cave Nebula I took over a couple of nights using the Hubble color palette. I used a hydrogen alpha filter for the green channel, Olll filter for the blue channel and Sulphur 2 for the red channel. I have a little over 6 hours of imaging time.

Welcome Chuck! It's awesome to have you join us here. :)

Both of these are so well done and I like them both. The Cave Nebula especially is really cool as I like the contrasting colors of the yellows/oranges with the cyan/green in the middle. Very inspiring and it's making me even more excited for my next DSO outing in January out at Joshua Tree NP.

A really nice way to introduce your work Chuck. Welcome to Focal World.

I haven't really done a lot of night photography or DSO work but sure like seeing the results. Especially when they look like yours do.

I was out at Joshua Tree last year not for astronomy. I bet it is great out there at night.

Chuck,

Welcome to FW! It is so great to have another imager here - you are starting with a real bang, these 2 are fantastic! I like your color palette on both of these! getting a decent mix is often challenging, you have done a great job here. Would love to hear more about your gear you are using to collect your data and what post processing software you are using. Seems like even under some LP you are getting some excellent results.

Do you post on Astrobin?

Great to have another contributor to the forum - I think you are going to really like it here :)

Best Regards,

ML

Thanks Mike, I use the fsq 106 for wide field and the Celestron 9.25 for planets, planetary and galaxies . I also have a Ha solar scope. I use a combination of Nebulosity, Pixinsight , photoshop and canon dpp for post processing . I'm in a Bortle 8 zone. I am on Astrobin under chuckp
Clear skies,

Chuck,

Very nice. We have some similar gear, although your OTAs are better than mine. My Stellarvue SVQ100 is an FSQ106 'wannabe', and I have the smaller 8 inch Celestron SCT, although it is the EdgeHD version.

I took the liberty of following you on AB - some extremely nice stuff there, cannot wait to see you post some of it here, folks will love it. Very impressive, both deep sky and planetary/solar stuff both.
