The Core

Finally decided to put the built in astrotracer in my Pentax K1 Mkii to use on my last trip to Joshua Tree. I used my 50mm F1.4 to shoot the core. I took 5 images at F2.2, ISO 1600, 70 seconds. Stacked in SLS. Took a little artistic liberty on the editing and dodging and burning of the dark horse and dust lanes.

Awesome work Brandon! This is great work with the K1. I had researched the K1 a bit as I like its tracker ability. It’s not perfect but it certainly does work. I sure like the detail in this.

Sorry I missed this - great widefield result with this image! Love seeing M8, the Lagoon Nebula, pop right out in the middle of your image. To me, the level of post processing looks very natuiral. I would say the combo of that widefield rig and your post processing skills came together to make a special picture for sure.
