The Dawn Wall

Wherever in the Yosemite Valley, you can not avoid it.

El Capitan, rising 3000 ft from the valley floor, is such an overwhelming granite formation, wherever you go, you can not avoid it.

Usually, it's the first sight visitors get to see upon arriving at Yosemite Valley. I took this photo a few years ago on a winter morning.

Enjoy.

Good old El Cap! One of my favorite friends there. :)

I really like it when you get that hanging fog like that and the sun hits it. Great job Oliver!

Beautiful and an unusual angle, where were you shooting from? The sunlit wall on the right is The Dawn Wall, this picture is more of the SW Face and The Nose.

Jim, thanks, I always wait a bit longer to see if any clouds or fog come along.

Really great image Oliver.

Jim, thank you for the correction, I went back to the route, you are right, it's the nose side. This was taken near the Tunnel View, to the right of parking lot.
