The Dumbbell - When a Star Explodes

I tried out my new pier mount last night and shot the Dumbbell Nebula in LRGB+Ha

Since it is a weekday and I had to get up for work in the morning, I set a camping cot out by the mount so I could sleep and not have the mount/telescope walk off (I live in a nice neighborhood, but you never know).

It was nice and cool 50° out. I got roughly 3.5 hours on the Dumbell nebula and a good sleep under the stars at the same time.

Skywatcher MN190 Mak Newt
ZWO ASI 183MM Pro Imaging Camera
Astrodon LRGB Filters
EQ6-R Pro Equatorial Mount
ZWO ASI120MC-S Guide Camera

Luminance: 45 minutes
Red: 45 minutes
Green: 45 minutes
Blue: 45 minutes
Ha: 40 minutes.

Andrew,

Saw this on CN and hoped you would be posting it here. This is a great result! Those small pixels in that camera combined with your excellent technique have brought lots of really sharp details out in this image, and the colors are very nice as well! The Mak-Newt seems to be a great match to the 183 camera. Super image!

This is super cool Andrew! Thanks for explaining what we are seeing, that's greatly appreciated.

It's pretty cool that you can shoot and sleep under the stars at the same time! :)
