The Eye of the Mountain

This is in Ouray, Colorado. Back when Alisa and I were photographing the 4th of July Fireworks. As previously mentioned we had hiked along the Perimeter Trail which goes around the whole town of Ouray, with much of it being along cliff edges and a bit narrow. As we were getting our gear set up and ready for the fireworks it started to rain on us lightly a couple of times. Afterwards this awesome Rainbow appeared! We jumped for joy, but were careful to not jump off the cliff in our excitement. :)

You can see the Perimeter Trail in this. I had shoot this at 24mm, and then wishing I was wider, I did also shoot some wider one with my other cameras that already had their ultra wide lenses on. I haven't looked at those yet.

The Rainbow was a good sign that the rain was done, and then we could settle in to getting our cameras set up for the 4th of July Fireworks!

Awesome rainbow, Jim. I can imagine the thrill and excitement that comes from a scene like this. Just a few days ago I shot a double rainbow!

The lighter color under the rainbow and the fraiming of the mountain under it is perfect what a sweet image

Hey Josh, thanks so much!

Yeah, the light was pretty epic. I am glad we were where we were at since we were on a cliff. It's like we were exactly where we needed to be to get the rainbow, anywhere else along the Perimeter Trail we wouldn't have been at the right angle.
