The Moon Says Good Night

I was out in Joshua Tree National Park, one of my favorite places to spend the night in the world. :) As the moon was setting, I liked the way it looked just as it was going behind the hills.

This is a single image, I took it out of the sequence I was capturing for a timelapse.

Nikon D810
Samyang 14mm f2.8
ISO 3200
25 secs
f2.8

Jim, lovely shot, the night sky was very clean with moon setting.

I appreciate that Oliver. I had the same feeling. Images like this remind me, that only 10 years ago, we didn't see so many Milky Way images, people who captured the night sky, just captured the night sky, no matter whether there was a Milky Way in it or not. But today, it's almost like that unless it has a Milky Way in it, it's a horrible boring image. So I enjoyed going a bit old school with this.

Very nice Jim. If it wasn't for the stars would almost think this was a late evening shot with the sun going down...

I appreciate that Alisa. Yeah, that's for sure, the moon does really light up the ground.

this is an otherworldly looking image. looks like the sun is setting on a very distant planet in the solar system, far enough away that the stars always shine.
