The Sierra Nevada Range and Mt. Whitney Through a Granite Portal in the Alabama Hills

Less crowded always gets my attention. I like the view although I wish there was a little less foreground rock at the top and bottom. Not sure how you could go about that given the shape of the portal other than maybe a panorama crop.

Very nice Doug. Works for me as a nice portal. A pano crop would definitely work as well. It may be worth a try to darken the foreground rock a bit.

Very nice Doug! There are so many arches and windows in that area, I have only visited a few of them, but I know there are like hundreds of them. One day I should spend a few days and try to find as many as I can.

Nice one. I agree with a bit of a crop off the top and perhaps some darkening of the portal. That is some rough eroded granite!

A nice change, Doug. Is this Alabama Hills Arch?
I agree with the crop off the top suggestion.

Hey that's a beauty Doug.
Nice shot Doug. Look at least like the sun was out. I remember when you and I got up in darkness to go get a sunrise shot an we were both bummed out that it was cloudy at sunrise. So glad you got back.
Sorry it took a while to get back to all of you. I have posted below a series of images that reflect the suggestions you have made. Thanks for all of the helpful criticism.
Tell me which of these you believe is the best.

#1 Crop off of the top with darkening the granite.

#2Crop off of the bottom with darkening of the granite.

#3 Crop off of the bottom and top with darkening of granite.

I like the first one in the new crop set - sort of a Goldilocks effect with just the right amount all around the granite frame.
