The Siq and the Treasury

Very nice Kyle - the light for this shot is not easy to capture given how dark the Siq is compared to the face of the Khazneh. I have some slides of this scene that don't scan well at all.

Nice work Kyle! Definitely not easy to shoot, though easier then Alan had to have dealt with back with slide film.

Looking through the end of the slot canyon leading into Petra, you get the first glimpse of the Treasury.

Why aren't there people? This was late in the afternoon reducing the crowds, I waited for a light moment, and used a little cloning to take care of the rest.

Any thoughts are welcome.

This is a great image. You caught the essence of what is waiting around the corner....bravo!!

I am not familiar with the location, but take it as the truth from the many others here that this is a hard shot to bring off technically. I also personally like the image without the people, as it adds to the sense of lost history and mystery for me.

You haven't seen Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade? They find the Holy Grail inside this facade in Petra.

Shooting this in the late afternoon definitely helped tame the light.

Love this Kyle, never seen this angle before, you did well considering all the obstacles, i might consider cropping a bit of the top, or darkening it a bit, cause that bright spot kinda attracts too much attention, this could also make an interesting mono...

Cheers.
