The Sixes +Edit

This is a 3 shot panorama shot from a drone looking up the Sixes River basin near Cape Blanco State Park in Oregon. The Sixes River has its headwaters in the Copper Salmon Wilderness Area in the northern part of the Klamath Mountains and flows into the Pacific just north of the Cape Blanco Lighthouse.

C&C always welcome.

Edit - brightened up some of the foreground shadows based on Jameel's suggestion:

Beautiful scene Alan, did you drive up that windy road I see on the right? Or did you just fly your drone up from below?

Thanks Ben. The road on the right is the one leading from US101 to the Cape Blanco Lighthouse. I drive that road and for this shot parked at the side of the road near the top of the side road for the Historic Hughes House (also part of the park). I sent my drone up to 250' for the panorama panels. I did not drive down to the parking area for the Hughes House which is the road on the left at the bottom. I have hiked down that road and along the river to the beach below the Cape Blanco lighthouse but the view I wanted to capture on this trip was this one as well as another panorama to the left of this one showing the confluence with the Pacific.

Really nice Alan. Not sure how much you can push shadows for this camera, it would be good to see some detail in the lower right part of the image.

Thanks Jameel - I should be able to bring a bit more out of the shadows down there. Really low overall light levels with a wide dynamic range seem to be the weak point for the sensors. This scene doesn't really have light levels all that low to begin with. I will play around with those shadows.

Hey Alan. What a cool view! I like the curving river. I can’t decide which version is better, I like them both. :)

Lovely bend in the river Alan. I think I prefer #1 (or maybe somewhere in between). I think the extra shadow detail draws unnecessary attention from the river.

Thanks Jim - see below.

Thanks Tim - my own preference is the first one which is what the scene really looked like with the winter sun angle. The real subject of the panorama is the river and its valley stretching off into the misty air and the distant mountains.
