Thanks Beth - the colors down near the horizon were better than the overall view so I dropped down to the tele lens to take in the show.

Thanks Doug - I am getting to shoot views I have never had from the ground with my DSLR. We are seriously lacking when it comes to viewpoints with expansive views like you get all the time in the desert. The newest drone in this case finally gives me enough lens choices to make this much more worthwhile. The older drones were all locked in at 24mm with no options for a mid range (70mm) or tele (166mm) as well.
Thanks Jameel - it's nice to have more focal length choices so I can pick out the parts of the sunrise with the most color. The 166mm lens is much better than the 162 in the older model.
Hey Alan, with that 166mm on your Mavic, couldn't you just fly your drone around in your backyard and photograph with it?
It's pretty tight flying even above my roofline checking rain gutters think less of dropping down lower. There are a couple of 65+' cedars, a 20' tall ceanothus, etc. The 166mm lens is great for the gutters since I can fly higher and zoom in to inspect. Besides my DSLR and the 100-400mm lens need some love tooHey Alan, with that 166mm on your Mavic, couldn't you just fly your drone around in your backyard and photograph with it?
