Those old cars down there...

You've heard about them and seen some in pictures. The great 50's era cars in Cuba are a real draw to photographers. Cliche, maybe. But when you finally get there, it's just you and them. Whatchya gonna do, NOT photograph them? Of course not. Here's a fine old Ford, just a few years younger than me.

For more, watch my Cuba presentation, on my personal website. Thanks.

I'm jealous. They aren't just well preserved old cars - they have become something uniquely Cuban through the years and the results are a visual delight. I will be watching your website for more :)

OK - just watched the video/slideshow on your web site and that was 16+ minutes very well spent. Delightful presentation of a fascinating place.

Do they cruise the one main street where you showed so many cars going past from a single vantage point? That reminded me a lot of cruising Central Avenue in Phoenix in the mid 60's when I was a teenager.

Thanks, Alan, for watching my presentation. Most of the nicer cars are used as taxis and you can rent one for an hour or two and just have them drive you around. The car sequence (No particular place to go) was made along the famous ocean wall boulevard, the Malecon. Any and every taxi, cruiser, tourist, and local drives on it. You saw a few images of it in the vid, whether you recognized it or not.

Hey Jeffrey,

This is one incredible car! I have heard stories about their old cars there, like a land lost in time.

I haven't seen your video yet. But how about putting it into the Travelogue or Video forums here, unless you have already done that and I just forgot.

That is awesome & looks like Cuba to me, I love the people in the background too & I think I see you in the front bumper :). Great shot, I will have to watch your video.

Great shot, perfect exposure and colors. I read a photobook or 2 once in Barnes and Noble on these cars and its very interesting.
