So I was able to catch on as a passenger with some friends heading up above Central City for a day of off-roading through the changing trees. The colors were fantastic, with some sections blown off or past peak but many excellent areas still providing wonderful color. We spent time on Kingston Hill trail going up, and then came back down using a portion of the Yankee Hill trail, and eventually just picked the forest road trails that were heading downhill and looked remotely passable. The weather was largely overcast which made for some really saturated colors that did not need to be accentuated in post. We had a little bit of rain and a little bit of sun along the way. There was surprising almost no wind, even up above treeline. All in all just a fantastic day.
'KIller Color Show' - This clump of trees was going crazy. Lots of color to be seen on the hills in the distance as well.
'Color Above Treeline' - Even the groundcover at high altitude was showing good color. It made a nice foreground when a sliver of sun peaked through momentarily and hit one of the surrounding peaks.
'Colorful Trail' - I jumped out and ran back to catch this nicely framed portion of the trail.
Comments and critiques welcome.
