Thursday's Dawn

Woke up very early yesterday morning. Thought I'd run down to Pickthorne Lake to see what dawn had to offer.
It started out pretty poorly and I almost headed back to get some coffee or even go back to bed. Glad I stayed around.
The show got pretty intense for a bit.....

As the morning progressed I looked to the south. The sun getting up into the low clouds and a faint thin rising mist on the lake made the light softer and I thought the reflections there were pretty good....

Hope you enjoy. C&C most welcome.

The intense first one is a cool color show but the more moody second one keeps me coming back. Glad you skipped your coffee so you could share these with us.

Me, too, Alan! Of course being someone that likes softer contrast scenes to begin with, I do tend to favor the 2nd myself.

Hey Barry,

That looks like a sunrise worth staying for!

I like #2 the best also. In #1, the vertical log really distracts my eyes for some reason. I don't mind the one laying down in the water, but the vertical one.... hmmm...

Hi Barry,

I prefer #2 as well. The interplay of the soft cloud reflections work really well. The higher contrast in #1 gives it much more punch, but the right side of the frame feels empty by comparison with the visual weight of the log and (living?) tree on the left.

Very nice set here, I am going to be the contrarian and prefer the 2nd. I love bright colors.

there's always one in the crowd! :D
Thanks everyone! I am partial to the 2nd. I don't dislike the 1st but I tend to favor softer light and contrast scenes. I know....call me nuts!
