I wonder if you desaturated this by about 50% how it would look? Kind of an old fashioned look to go along with old fruit?

The desaturated version conveys the intent of the scene well. Definitely not the usual still life shot

Interesting. FWIW I much prefer the original. The colours in the desaturated version look peculiar to my eye, to which the pinkish cast of the ?melon and ?table and chopping board seem rather unsettling for some reason.
