Top of the Mountain Pine

This was taken this summer in July , on a rainy day. It is a pine tree that I have photographed many times at the top of the world, and this is so far my favorite. Strawberry Point looking towards the back side of Zion (the white mountains in the distance). Near Duck Creek Utah. As usual, cc is welcome

Classy old tree - I can see why you keep going back and the view to the south is always nice from that area. Is that a bit of a shower in the distance behind the tree on the right? I would be curious to see a little more of the tree since the branches on the top and bottom are out of the frame. Not sure if there are unsightly impediments to that or not.

I have driven the road coming over from Cedar City quite a number of times and have stopped near Duck Creek several times but have never driven out to the Strawberry Point overlook. I will add this to my always growing bucket list of roads to take

You should, it is a beautiful view, about 180 degrees . Yes that is a rain shower, and no not unsightly, I just didn't want the other pines to distract from this one . and wanted the landscape behind to also be able to be seen. I can't wait to see your image of it

That's a neat old tree and a grand view. Now I need to Google it and see where it is. I know the area fairly well, but not this specific place.

Just take Strawberry Point road out to the end & you can't miss it , it goes right there.

You might have to wait a bit - it's unlikely I will be headed that far south before spring. Does the road to the overlook have any wintertime maintenance at all?

• Maybe into the cabins, but I am not sure beyond that, I wouldn't think so

Kinda what it looked like. I usually like to make an April pilgrimage down to the Colorado Plateau region every year and have seen the summit along UT14 (Cedar Canyon Hwy) with more than a patch or two of snow on the ground.

Hey Darcy,

Very nice. I like the look of this. While I normally don't like trees cut off, in this case with it being equally cut off all the way around it, it didn't bother me.
