Hey all, figured I’d make my annual appearance haha. I’ll be around a lot more in the coming year, finally getting my creative mojo back.

Here’s a shot from a week ago i took while camping in the valley of the gods, such a great time.

Canon 6D (about to get Astro modified), rokinon 14mm f/2.8 manual, iso 1600, three shot focus blend.

Cheers -Aaron

Ha ha Aaron! :)

I will say it's great to have you back. I know personally I have missed you, so it's great to have here.

And you came back with a night time shot! You know that shooting at night and capturing the stars is a love of many of us. It's so peaceful and quiet usually at night, it's just such a great experience. I like your using that tree for foreground interest, and really nice work on getting everything in focus with being at close to the tree.

I have been thinking a few months ago about perhaps getting one of my bodies modified for Astro. With my D850 and Sigma 14mm though, I really like the way my night shots look as is, but still the thought has entered my mind. Why would you want to convert your 6D for Astro? To be able to shoot longer? Or simply to let more "astro" light in?

Again, Welcome Back!

Aaron,
Looks great.. I love the natural Moonlight... Worked so well to light the FG and still a totally natural night time feeling. The crisp focus across the whole image is excellent. Great job on this one !

Thanks guys! The Valley of the Gods was amazing and I can’t wait to go back. Such beauty and so little human pressure. Most everyone just drives the loop in their cars and off they go, so anyone wanting to go for a hike is assured to have the joint to themselves.

The 6D, I think it’s among the best for night, and it’s been my warhorse pretty much since they came out and I love it. It’s getting replaced by a 5DSR today, so it can have more time to itself at night ;) And yeah, more light wavelengths and getting rid of the AA filter also.

Have a great day all. - A
