I still can get over how great this website is! It is refreshing to see people involved! Great job Jim and everyone for making this a really great place to visit!

Last fall, i sold off all my digital and went full film (may have said this before on this website?). Personally I wanted to feel challenged. I think all the technology was taking the fun out photography for me. So I wanted to reboot in a sense. I have been on trips with buddies, and they are buried in the LCD, worried about bracketing, etc etc and missing out on what is happening. This is not fun for me. I want to remember the experiences, but not through my photos primarily - if that makes sense.

This was taken right off the road outside Boulder, UT. I cannot tell you how much fun i really had! Single shot too :)

Thanks Dustin for the kind words! We do have a special community growing here, and it comes from having thoughtful and caring photographers like you involved.

This is pretty cool. I do like the composition and the look of this. There is something fun about shooting with film. Perhaps because I grew up shooting film, I don't feel the urge to go back now. But I can totally understand someone wanting to shoot film, there is something very hands on about it, where you feel so much more part of the process of creating art. Shooting digital can at times be sterile and thoughtless almost. It doesn't have to be for sure, but it can happen. Where as with film, if one is not thinking and feeling every step of the way, the result will typically be failure. At least, that's my take on it.

The green foliage contrasting with the red of the rocks is always a fascinating combination - have a few myself from ZNP.

Film was fun back in the days. It slowed you down and forced more thoughtful approach to image capture. Haven't done that since the turn of the century personally. My film gear just sits on the shelf.
