Virgin Falls

This is one I need to revisit in the fall (I know I have a fall color shot of this somewhere) and will this winter for some B&W film work. This is going way back to spring 2013 but I wanted to share an image near where the last few I posted were. This falls comes out of the escarpment (from underground) and drops to it's basin, going back underground again. Located along the Cumberland Plateau in TN. A fairly strenous trip at just under 5 miles in (and down the whole way), close to 5 miles back (up the whole way). I will post tomorrow or so a couple other interesting shots from the hike in, lots of caves and waterfalls along this route.

Very lovely falls - is that another tier of the falls in the distance behind? It's a beautiful scene even without the fall colors. It's a scene that definitely lends itself to a vertical composition but I also like the wider view of the falls and its setting. I'd love to see the wide view with fall colors :)

Wow Jon! This is a super cool looking waterfall! You definitely need to get back there in the fall. It's quite the little hike back into it, and with all of the caves and such as you described, it's almost like one would want to camp out along the way. :)

Your right Alan, the top of the falls is shrouded by the foliage, it goes up a little bit further. :)

Two very nice and different views of this. The low flow gives a nice texture to the falls.
Thank you Jameel

Beautiful falls, and beautiful images.
Thanks Ben!

Thank you Jim. I really do need to get back. There are so many places I have shot around the mid and south cumberland region, some I just need to get back to as it has been almost a decade and things change as well as my vision.
