Waterdroplets

I bought the Laowa 90/2.8 Macro lens and the Miops splash at the end of the summer figuring it would be a fun project to play with water droplet photography during the cold of winter. Well, today it was below zero for much of the day and only reaching single digits for the high.

What better day than to take my first foray into this art.

These are seriously cool Bob - looks like a good way to pass the dark winter months when you don't want to go outdoors. I especially like the shapes and colors in #2 although they are quite unique.

Thanks Alan. I'm pretty happy with these results for my first attempt. I used some yellow vinyl as the background and colored the water droplet water blue yielding more a green result. Lot's to play with here (colors, viscous liquids, lighting).

Thanks guys. This a lot of fun and teaching me more about flash photography. Something until now I have shied away from.

Wow Bob! This is something I recall seeing in science way back in the day. And it was something that looked so cool, and something that I didn't give much thought to capturing as back then the equipment to capture it would have been in the 10's of thousands of dollars I would guess. Or maybe even more.

Love #1, but I think #2 is my favorite. If you have any behind the scenes captures of this, I think that would be so educational to see.

Thanks Jim. I'll get some pics on the simple setup I used to start real soon.
