Good morning - must be another Wednesday and time for waterfalls.

My offering this week is from the area above and below Wahkeena Falls in the Columbia River Gorge. From below the primary falls:

On the trail leading to the top of the Gorge from Wahkeena is a small set of falls called Fairy Falls:

Add your own water features if you have them.

I was at Watkins Glen last week. I pushed myself away from my normal lens selection to come up with something I hadn't done after several visits. Its different for me, but I'm not sure if different is good. Any insight/reaction is fine:

The good news with Watkins Glen is construction is scaring off a fair amount of their traffic, so you aren't harassed by the normal crowds.

Gorgeous waterfalls Alan, and thanks for starting this thread.

Below is one of my Provo River falls images. I have a limited supply of waterfalls so I am showing one a week. Provo River falls is a series of drops, this is one of them.
Nice - I'd have to go back to film days and do some scanning for images of the Provo River Falls.

I have only seen images of this place but it looks like the kind of place I could spend a whole day shooting. I love the leaves on the rocks.

Thanks Alan. Watkins Glen is worth all the time you want to give it. It is in the area called Finger Lakes with a bunch more waterfalls ( and wineries) and is a couple hours from Ricketts Glen. We did Watkins Glen and Ricketts Glen in one day and that was a little ambitious. We ended up with 13 miles of hiking and according to Vicki's "watch" 130 flights of stairs. The area can entertain us much longer that I dare push my wife's patience. Instead we go back a couple time a year on the way to see our Grand Daughter.

Hey Tim,

This is really cool looking. Going in tighter on waterfalls can be a great way to get a similar but different look.

Finally, a good result of construction! Nice fall colors with the cascades. The branch poking into the lower one is a bit distracting - my only nit.

Nice waterfalls all around. Pushing the definition a little here with a shot from last October on the Big Island. Water is falling here, so I thought I'd sneak it in ;). I was tired of lugging my Sigma 150-600mm out there, but Bruce Omori felt sorry for me as he knew I wanted to do abstracts, so he lent me his 400mm.

This takes water falls to a whole new level with molten rock falls included.

Here's a bona fide waterfall. I saw these folks getting ready with their wetsuits & ropes and thought they were going to do a gonzo kayak descent. They were pretty excited about it, having never done it before. I went down the road to get to a good vantage point to shoot their insanity. But they were just rappelling down. I've rappelled through waterfalls before, but never had a wetsuit as it was a forced retreat & certainly not for fun!
