When the Storm Breaks

On the first night after I got down to Brookings last week we got hit by some rain - 2.2" in 12 hours. It was still raining hard in the morning so I didn't bother trekking down to the beach for a sunrise shooting session but an hour later the rain stopped and the heavy clouds started breaking up. It was well past sun angles that could offer up any serious color but there were some nice atmospherics in the scene.

That drone is really turning into a worthwhile investment for you Alan. You are getting your money’s worth from it.

I like the moody look here. A great view of the coastline.

Thanks Jim - the time of the morning for shooting from the beach was long gone by the time the rains stopped so I went up and ignored the beach as a foreground. I got a bunch of images with the interesting atmospheric conditions after the storm broke up.

This trip wasn't timed around favorable tides for sunrises/sunsets so I went for views of the coast I had never been able to shoot before which was almost entirely from drone flights. I think I shot just under 350 drone images along the coast from Newport down to Brookings. I have tens of thousands of archived images of the Oregon coast and none of them overlap with the aerial view looking back at the land from out over the water.
