Whitefish Lake

So for the record, hanging out lakeside before sunrise in 15°F temperatures can be uncomfortable, especially when the wind picks up off the lake. This is from the city beach in Whitefish, Montana looking across Whitefish Lake toward the Whitefish Mountain ski area. I think the best light was well before sunrise as the clouds picked up some nice pink color. I definitely added some contrast to bring it out.

Any thoughts are welcome. I've almost thawed out...

Very cool Kyle! Love the light coloring in this.

Yeah, there is something about a breeze blowing across a lake that's extra cool for sure. You almost can't dress warm enough for it.

So... just thought of this. What will be your chances of getting any Aurora shots up there? I know once in a while they say it gets strong enough to be seen in Northern US, but not sure if that's just talk or it's so weak it won't make for a good photo, or if it can really present some sweet photos.

Hey Kyle, this looks like it would be a good place for a time lapse, and give you and excuse to stand in the cold for a long time. ;)

I've seen some aurora shots from the area, so I've started tracking activity and will give it a shot.

Nice one - looks quite pleasant from my seat in from of my monitor. I wondered how you were doing with the temps up there. FWIW the first winter will be the hardest and you get more used to the cold after that.
